Bob Rylett

Posted by TEA On August - 30 - 2009

Bob Rylett - TEA Volumes 12 & 13TEA Volume 12 & 13 compilation artist Bob Rylett takes songwriting to new heights. His songs are honest, truthful, genuine and hopeful. As a storyteller he is prolific and dangerous, surprisingly honest and insatiably curious about life. He sings of lust filled angels and repenting devils. He sings of peace with a knife and the cowardly bully. He sings of revenge against teachers and preachers and chance. He sings of lust and life and loss and luck. He sings of the love of truth and the lies of hate. He sings about you and about me.

Root Cellar Records comment on Bob's recording..."Things turned out much the same when I took him into the studio. The intention was simply to run a few takes of songs, so we could see what we liked and figure out what to do with it. But he got right down to work just as soon as engineer Rick Salt finished setting him up in a booth. No messin' and no stopping. No repeats and no second tries. Just one song after another. That's what he does. That's how he works. That's what we captured." Listen to Bob's songs here.

Bob is living his dream writing, recording and performing on the road. Check out Bob Rylett on A Channel News.

Elevator Boy Art Exhibit

Posted by TEA On August - 30 - 2009

Front CoverTEA Volume 14 artist Matthew Breakey (aka elevator boy) has been an avid artist who draws and paints how he experiences the world around him. Whether its creating works that express his darkest feelings, or showcasing his sometimes out of touch, extravagant sense of humor.

Matthew has attended OCAD for 2 years, and his most intimate, expressive works, have been when he's been free from school establishments and given time to come up with his "own" way to make his mark on any given material. Matthews works go from using unconventional materials to his first love of pen on paper.

Chasing Satellites

Posted by TEA On August - 13 - 2009

Chasing Satellites liveTEA Volume 13 compilation artists Chasing Satellites are well on their way to creating a major buzz in the music industry. Some of the best things in life happen when you stop looking for them. In 2006 singer Daniel Bryant and lead guitarist Aaron Bethune were introduced by a mutual friend, and four time Juno nominated producer, Rick Salt. They had recently come out of successful projects with bad endings. “It’s really hard to find the right combination of people that are dedicated enough to make something work, that contribute equally, and that most importantly have the same goal” said Bethune in an interview.

After jamming and writing songs on Vancouver Island for about a year the two teamed up with Aaron’s school buddy Zack Friend on drums and Dan’s longtime friend Carl Schleppe on bass. With the addition of the two new members and many months of rehearsals, the band was complete and ready to rock.

aaronIndividually the members of Chasing Satellites had already played at venues ranging from Europe to North America and shared stages with the likes of ZZ Top, Sum 41, Sloan, GOB, Finger Eleven, The Trews, Evenesence, and a long list of etceteras. After leaving those experiences behind and almost giving up on the pursuit of music it seems their greatest musical adventure is the one they are on.

Since the Canadian band’s formation in late 2007, and lots of hard work, Chasing Satellites has earned rave reviews, been featured on the front page of Hitquarters and other noticeable publications, shared stages with artists including and not limited to Thornley, Mother Mother, Armchair Cynics, Young and Sexy, as well as received airplay from Vancouver to New York.
