Posted by TEA On July - 18 - 2009

at-sign1SRN Mediaworks have created a dedicated website to feature the TEA Summer Showcase 2009 and all performers. SRN and TEA South have now completed artist interviews, recording live audio, video and photography. SRN  will be airing the showcase to radio in the months to come. A big thank you goes out to Phillip Hong and his staff for all of their hard work in creating this website, and preparations to feature the Showcase and all performers. The latest update and progress for the dedicated TEA Showcase website at SRN has already come in from Phillip Hong and we look forward to seeing and hearing the completed media project in the near future...

1. Editing the video interviews so all six performers interviewed will have a chance to publicize what they have done over this past weekend. All video interviews have now been completed at SRN Television.
2. Update the website to reflect post-concert mood and design a template so photos and video can be easily assessed from there. Web pages now completed.
3. Update auxiliary web pages that relate to the concert (SRN Television for example). Completed.
4. I will confirm with Mike (Broadcasting) about an air date and time for the Showcase.  Date confirmed for Saturday October 31, 2009 at 12pm. Christmas dates will be posted soon.

Outspoken

Posted by TEA On July - 15 - 2009

OUTSPOKEN 23TEA Volume 10 compilation artists Outspoken are a pop-punk band with a twist of alternative indie-rock. They are one of those independent bands that help fans fall back in love with music as they stay in tune with themselves and their dreams. They stand out in the scene today, not just for their musicianship, talent and dedication, but their business aspect/grasp of the industry.

Outspoken have accomplished a great deal while doing everything themselves; no management, just four determined musicians. They have been featured in two international and domestic magazines, Canada’s Faze Magazine and Germany’s Outspoken Magazine, along with being on three international domestic CD compilations {HIV Yellow Head Comp, Pop-Punk Comp, and TEA Volume 10}.

Outspoken have also managed to get their latest CD "Hear We Go"… released in HMV record stores across the country. They have also put together a show themselves, where they played with whom they call rock stars , The Ataris and are having, what is said to be an amazing show with GOB this month. Their next goal is to be a part of the Vans Warped Tour line up. Outspoken played a high energy set at the  TEA Summer Showcase at the Rivoli on Saturday July 18, 2009 which was outstanding.

Tribe 11

Posted by TEA On July - 8 - 2009

tribe-11-group3Tribe 11 fans compare the bands music to classic acts like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd mixed with later influences like Jane’s Addiction, the Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead and Queens of the Stone Age. Yet, Tribe 11 is no re-hashed imitation. Fans and critics agree that Tribe 11’s impressive debut forges a path all its own.

Fusing aspects of alternative, classic rock, prog rock, folk, and blues, there is a constant tension in Tribe 11’s music that pushes and pulls between a bubbling simmer and an explosive boiling over. “Both elements are always there,” according to Steven Webster(lead singer). “Even when the guitars are screaming and the band is at full throttle, there are still the simmering subtleties that can be heard in the background. This is essential to me because it connects the music to the lyrics, both of which should be a journey toward clarity – not something that is appealing only at a surface level and then quickly becomes tiring, forgotten.”

tribe-11-giffing1In this vein, Webster cites his approach to music as his same philosophical approach to life generally. “I am inspired by the writings of Simone Weil and the implications behind ideas like ‘superstring theory.’ They instill in me the idea that only in the quiet absence of everything is it possible to perceive anything, while, in the noisy abundance of everything there is an overwhelming

Tribe 11 are featured on the TEA Volume 10 compilation CD and  performed a unique and passionate set at the 2009 TEA Summer Showcase held at the Rivoli on Saturday July 18, 2009.

They have been featured in many international and domestic magazines and have graced many stages with their heroes and icons.

johnshoesbwlightTEA Volume 13 compilation artist Johnny Shoes has had 6 short years in the music business with the main goal of being the best he can possibly be at his craft. "I can't get enough of it, and not just playing either, the learning aspect too. It's why I wake up in the morning and what I plan to do for the rest of my life...no not make it big and famous."

power-box-small1Power Boxx deliver a powerful hard rock sound and inspiring live show. Lead singer Phil Naro is well known for his writing and recording with Peter Criss of Kiss and performing as lead singer for Coney Hatch in the 1980's. The chemistry in Power Boxx is what glues this band together. Don't miss their powerful live performance at the TEA Summer Showcase.

weak-need1This eclectic group of guys who's style and influence range from jazz to 80's electronic, to power punk have found one vision, one dream, one band that they all believe in. They are: The Weak Need A high energy pop act being compared to such bands as  Coldplay, Muse, Pilot Speed and U2. Their emotive delivery at their live shows has their fans saying that they were "blown away".

katelyn showcaseTEA Volume 10 artist Katelyn Dawn makes the top 16 on Canadian Idol. What has Katelyn been doing since Canadian Idol? - Katelyn recently released her 2nd album, 'The Window'. The new album, produced by Chris Burke-Gaffney (Chantal Kreviazuk) & Dale Penner (Nickelback) combines an organic sunny roots-pop sound, with hummable melodies and jangly hooks.

matthew-de-zoeteA singularly talented and all-around stand-up guy, Matthew de Zoete is helping pop-rock recover its lost sense of dignity and self-worth. The 27-year-old from Hamilton, Ontario, approaches his craft much like an Old World artisan, applying a loving hand to songs who's melodic invention and attention to detail consistently catch the listener off guard.

Mickael Maddison

Posted by TEA On July - 6 - 2009

Maddison 4TEA Volume 10 artist Mickael Maddison AKA "Mike-guyver", is the kind of guy that seems to excel at whatever he's doing at the time.

This holds true when you look over his recent start into music. Mickael had long been drumming, playing guitar, and writing songs when his wife, Kim, suggested it was time to make a permanent record of his work and record it onto a CD. Having never performed or recorded before, Mickael sought out James Lipoth whom had recently completed the producing and recording of a CD project. Before Mickael had finished the project, the tracks "When I'm Free" and "Drink" were already receiving airplay.

"I really had no idea that my music was something people would want to listen to", says Mickael. "It was supposed to be something just for myself, my family and my friends. Things have gone a lot further than I could have imagined." Whatever the case may be, his music has led him to form a live trio, become a regular performer, and setup his own studio.

Maddison 3With the release of his second CD, a 10 song album titled "In Loving Misery...", Mickael has exceeded the success of his first EP with more radio stations spinning tracks, great press reviews, and a growing list of venues requesting live performances.  Songs like "Sweet Misery" and "Molecules of Oxygen" enjoy ongoing airplay.

Mickael has recently entered the Ourstage music contest with his track Sweet Misery and has now moved all the way up to #9 from starting out at 500th. Mickael is presently receiving  a great response from Canadian radio with his second release entitled "In Loving Misery" that is presently being promoted throughout Canada and abroad. Watch Michael performing live on CFJC TV7's show.
